Erick T. Gjerdingen

Biography

Erick T. Gjerdingen is the Managing Partner of Mallor Grodner Plummer LLP and represents individuals and organizations in a wide range of business law matters. He regularly advises clients on the purchase and sale of businesses and their assets, real estate transactions, complex commercial litigation and reorganization, high-asset divorce cases, and state and federal appeals. Erick also practices extensively in creditor–debtor law, including advising on lending transactions and security agreements. He serves as outside general counsel to technology companies, drafting and advising on implementing agreements for SaaS products—including Terms of Use, Terms of Service, SaaS agreements, privacy policies, and privacy compliance measures—and guiding them through financing matters such as SAFE notes and equity offerings. He enjoys learning the nuances of his clients’ operations to develop effective legal strategies and to assemble efficient, multidisciplinary teams tailored to their needs.

Erick’s representative clients have included Members of Congress; financial and financial services institutions; software and other technology providers; casinos, hotels, and tourist resorts; construction companies; airlines and related entities; breweries; liquidating trusts and creditors’ committees; Ponzi-scheme victims and fraudulent transfer defendants; artists and athletes; high-asset individuals and private clients; and non-profit and religious organizations. Also representing auto dealers, he is a member of the National Association of Dealer Counsel (NADC).

Erick is admitted in both Indiana and Nevada. He received his law degree from the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law and holds additional degrees from Harvard University and Carleton College. Before becoming a lawyer, he served as a faculty member at a major public university in Thailand.

He previously served as President of the Board of Directors of BCT Management, Inc., the nonprofit organization that manages the historic Buskirk-Chumley Theater in downtown Bloomington. A graduate of Bloomington High School North, Erick returned to Bloomington with his wife—a Bloomington native—to raise their three daughters.
